A message from Vice President Fr Anthony Casamento csma: With the return to campuses this semester now almost complete, I am delighted to report that our Campus di Roma is the latest ACU campus to be reactivated.
It was a pleasure last week, while I was in Rome presenting at the Global Education Compact at the Holy See, to join with ACU’s Chancellor the Honourable Martin Daubney AM and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global and Education Pathways) Mr Chris Riley to officially reactivate the campus. Our first cohorts of students in over two years will return to the campus in mid-July.
While in Rome, the Chancellor, Chris, and I were also able to meet with the many and varied partners ACU has in Rome. These included dicasteries of the Holy See, civil authorities, other education providers in Rome (both Italian and foreign), and local NGOs who are excited to collaborate with ACU in offering a unique and purposeful educational experience for our students while they are resident in the eternal city.
A highlight of the reactivation week was the opportunity for the Chancellor to host a small dinner on campus for a number of these key collaborators. Guests included the Australian and US ambassadors to the Holy See, the President (Mayor) of the local municipality in which the campus is located, and a number of senior members of the Roman Curia.
The new campus is located in Monteverde, a vibrant suburb of Rome, and offers our staff and students the opportunity to live, learn, and work in a modern facility that boasts some of the best educational resources of any foreign university in the city.
While the focus last week was in Rome, there has been a small but dedicated team from the Office of the Vice President, Global and Educational Pathways, the Provost and the Chief Operating Officer’s portfolios who have been working hard over the last twelve months to ensure that our Campus di Roma is up and ready to welcome our students and staff.
