Update from the Student Advocacy Service

The Student Advocacy Service provides students with confidential support, information and referral on matters related to the university’s policies and procedures. The service is expanding its service delivery to improve the student experience.

Support person

The Student Advocacy Service will support students by accompanying them to important meetings.
The focus will be taking notes, supporting the emotional wellbeing of the student and, if invited to do so:

  • asking questions about the matter
  • raising any issues that may have been missed
  • confirming the next steps to facilitate resolution.

The Student Advocacy Service may be limited in acting as the support person during peak periods (July-August and December-January) and is subject to staff availability.

Communicating on the behalf of the student

With the permission of the student, the Student Advocacy Service may contact staff members on behalf of a student to expedite the resolution of any matters of concern. All communication will uphold the dignity of all parties and be conducted in a respectful manner.
