Copyright audit

All Australian universities pay fees to the Australian Copyright Agency under the education statutory licence. This licence allows academics to copy material (such as book chapters, journals articles, internet articles) and make it available to students.

Part of the licencing agreement requires periodic copyright audits. Audits ensure the Copyright Agency can make payments to the copyright owners of works that ACU uses.

From November 2023 to February 2024, ACU will undertake an audit. Visit our Statutory Licences webpage further background information.

What do I need to do?

If your readings lists are in Leganto, the process will be automatic. Please review your reading lists to check they contain relevant and up-to-date readings.

If you have scanned reading materials in LEO or Canvas units that are not in a Leganto reading list, you must create one and place the content inside. Find more information about creating Leganto lists on our Leganto guide.

If you are using open educational resources, check that the citations/references are correct.

This is our opportunity to acknowledge the hardworking writers, authors, artists, and other creators of the copyright works we share with our students.
