Equity @ ACU Week is around the corner

Equity @ ACU Week shines a light on the work that is taking place across our university to embed equity in everything we do. You are invited to join your colleagues 19-26 September for on-campus Equity @ ACU activations.

Equity Week will conclude with the launch of ACU’s new Widening Participation plan by ACU Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Zlatko Skrbis at the online equity symposium 25-26 September.

Register now for the online symposium with sessions held 25-26 September. Sessions are available to all education-based stakeholders and communities with attendees able to opt in for their choice of sessions.

Keynote speakers include:

  • Professor Penny Jane Burke: UNESCO Chair in Equity, Social Justice and Higher Education and Director of the Centre of Excellence for Equity in Higher Education, University of Newcastle.
  • Professor Mark Rose: Pro Vice-Chancellor, Indigenous Strategy and Innovation, Deakin University and ACU alumnus.
  • Professor Sarah O’Shea: Honorary Professorial Fellow in the School of Education, Faculty of the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities, and Dean, Graduate Research at Charles Sturt University.
  • Professor Sally Kift: Higher Education Academy (PFHEA), Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law (FAAL), and President of the Australian Learning & Teaching Fellows (ALTF).

Additional panel sessions include:

  • Paul Kidson: Knowing the playing field: academic understanding of schools and the impact on access and success
  • Chris Ronan and Nicola Cull: Community-led higher education: How to widen participation in regional Australia
  • Jessica Russ-Smith: Indigenous Curriculum – sovereign ways, beyond embedding
  • Dr Suzanne Macqueen: Supporting students from equity groups: experiences of staff and considerations for institutions
