At the end of August, ACU will host the prestigious 30th ASEACCU Conference.
ASEACCU, or the Association of Southeast and East Asian Catholic Colleges and Universities, is a regional association of higher education institutions from Australia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Macao, the Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand Timor Leste and Vietnam.
ASEACCU is affiliated with the International Federal of Catholic Universities, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
Hosting the ASEACCU Conference is a significant milestone for ACU. From 20 – 23 August, our university will welcome more than 200 students, educators, and university leaders from North, Southeast, East Asia and Australia for important networking opportunities and formation in higher education leadership.
We are honoured to welcome distinguished speakers including the Rector of the Catholic University of Portugal and ACU Honorary Doctorate recipient Professor Isabel Gil, the Rector of University Santo Tomas in the Philippines, Fr. Richard Ang, and Fr Dennis Holtschneider, the former President of the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities (ACCU), the peak body for Catholic universities in the USA. ACU will honour Fr Holtschneider with an Honorary Doctorate while he’s in Sydney for the conference.
In the same week, ACU will host the Governing Board meeting and Workshop for the Strategic Alliance of Catholic Research Universities (SACRU). ACU Vice-Chancellor Professor Zlatko Skrbis, who is president of SACRU, will welcome rectors, presidents and vice rectors from six of the eight SACRU members. While the organising team finalise the preparations for these important events, you can learn more about ASEACCU at their official website and keep up to date on the goals and vision for SACRU.
