EBSCOhost user interface change - action required

EBSCOhost databases to launch new interface in February 2025. Find out what you need to know and do to prepare for the change.

EBSCOhost databases have a major update coming in the new year. This new interface will affect some of our most popular databases including Medline, CINAHL, PsycINFO, ERIC, and Business Source Complete.

While this update is scheduled for 4 February 2025, there are steps you should take now to ensure you have ongoing access to certain functionality, including folders and saved searches. This is especially important for researchers, HDR students and anyone currently undertaking any kind of literature or systematic/systematic like review.

What you need to know

Some content saved in your MyEBSCO Folder will transfer to the new interface after the update.

Unfortunately, the following will not migrate:

  • search alerts and journal alerts
  • custom folders
  • persistent links to searches
  • the complete search history of a saved search *.

*For complex multi-line search strategies (also known as combined searches) EBSCO cannot confirm if the full search history will migrate. Given this uncertainty, we strongly recommend you record your saved searches in Word or Excel.

What you need to do before 4 February 2025

  • Move any saved searches from custom folders to MyFolder.
  • Save your search alerts as saved searches in MyFolder.
  • Watch these EBSCO videos on managing folder content in preparation for migration.
  • Copy and paste saved search strategies into a document.

What’s next?

Other functionality will change due to the update. ACU Library will continue to provide details about the new interface.

If you have any questions about the changes, please contact the library at library@acu.edu.au.
