Tuesday 13 and Friday 16 February, 9am-5pm
Audience: All staff
This program is designed for staff wanting to gain the skills and confidence to recognise and provide initial level assistance to others experiencing a mental health issue or crisis until the appropriate professional help is received or crisis resolves.
On successful completion of this course, you will be a nationally Accredited Mental Health First Aider for three years, including if you wish to be public identified at ACU as a Mental Health First Aider for other staff. Attendance on both days in mandatory.

Gain a greater understanding of the end-to-end recruitment process and the role and responsibilities as the Selection Committee Chair, ensuring the process is equitable, transparent and timely and candidates have a positive experience.
Thursday 1 February, 10.30am-11.30am (AEDT)
Audience: All staff
This interactive virtual workshop provides an opportunity for staff to understand and participate in a discussion about the mission and its importance at ACU, how the mission aligns with your work at ACU, and information about ACU’s identity as a Catholic university.
Introduction to Bystander Awareness
Wednesday 14 February 10am-11am (AEDT)
Audience: All staff
Being an active bystander means being aware of when someone’s behaviour is inappropriate or threatening and choosing to challenge it.
Throughout this session we’ll uncover the ‘bystander effect’ and why we hesitate in intervening when we see a person who may need help, is experiencing violence, or experiencing problematic behaviour. You’ll learn how to assess risk and context in a situation to understand the best and safest way to intervene.
Thursday 15 February, 10am-12pm (AEDT)
Audience: Leaders/Supervisors
Developing a mindset of growth and adaptability has never been more important than it is today. This two-hour workshop examines how you can embody a growth mindset and empower your team to do the same. By building a culture that is underpinned by curiosity, risk taking, and learning, you’ll soon see a positive change to organisational growth, innovation, and performance.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Awareness
Wednesday 21 February 10.30am-12.30pm
Audience: All staff
This program is for staff looking to develop a greater understanding of the importance of kinship and community in the everyday life of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff and students. This program will be particularly useful for staff who are interacting with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, colleagues and community.
