A message from Vice President Father Anthony Casamento csma.
From 5 – 9 August we will celebrate Mission Week across our campuses. This is an opportunity for us to come together as a community to celebrate our mission as Australian Catholic University, and reflect on the role that mission plays in defining who we are and what we do.
To help us celebrate, our Mission and Ministry team has collaborated across the university to bring a unique program of events, speakers, music, cultural experiences and opportunities to each campus, and to give back to the broader community. To find out what is happening on your campus, click here.
To celebrate Mission Week this year, we also have some exciting goodies to share. Firstly, we will be giving away a set of Examen Cards to students and staff. The Examen is a simple, daily reflective practice developed by St Ignatius (founder of the Jesuits) that helps you connect to your conscience and identity as an individual. It lets you set goals and intentions based on your deepest values and helps you discover when and where you are acting in or out of alignment with those values. It is a practice that will help you say what you do and do what you say, embracing your unique offerings while being accountable to your own vision. The Examen is a practice of introspection and growth that cultivates connection, compassion, and trust, helping align actions to a bigger vision (ie: our mission).
Our Campus Ministry Coffee Carts (and Campus Ministry offices for those that don’t have a coffee cart on campus) will also have some limited-edition Mission Week Keep Cups available. These stylish cups not only look great and keep your coffee or tea piping hot, but also support our commitment to sustainability as a Laudato Si university – something that is mission critical.
I invite you all to take part in your local Mission Week celebrations next week. Remember Mission Week is about all of us, because #WE are ACU!
