Phones to be removed from classrooms

Phones will be removed from all classrooms over the mid-semester break, from 23 September to 27 September 2024.

This is to align with the new audio-visual classroom standards that have been designed and approved in conjunction with Information Technology and the Centre for Education and Innovation.

The new audio-visual classroom standards have been trialed successfully over the last year in the Saint Teresa of Kolkata Building in Melbourne. This trial has found the use of personal mobile phones to be a suitable alternative.

The Service Central external number and the option for IT classroom support contact details will be clearly and permanently fixed to all teaching podiums.

What does this mean for me?

Use your mobile phone for:

  • Emergency – 000, SafeZone app or Security 1300 729 452.
  • IT support 07 3623 7272 option 1.

What do I need to do?

If you are aware of a space that requires a phone as part of specialist teaching requirements, please contact jon.morecroft@acu.edu.au.

When you attend your class, please bring your mobile phone and look for the sign in your classroom that gives the Service Central external number and the option for IT classroom support.
