Join our Safety Support Network

The Safeguarding and Student Safety Team is currently in the process of recruiting new Safety Support Officers for the Safety Support Network.

The Safety Support Network has been a tremendous success since its launch in 2022. We want to build on the strength of our existing network to ensure ACU students have as many avenues for support as possible.

What is the Safety Support Network?
The Safety Support Network is a group of academic and professional staff (Safety Support Officers), specially trained in receiving and responding to the sensitive and complex nature of disclosures of sexual harm, sexual harassment and family and domestic violence.

How do I become a Safety Support Officer?

All new Safety Support Officers will undertake training for one day, to ensure they feel confident in managing all aspects of the role. The next training will be on Monday 17 June.

We understand this is in an academic focus zone so the team will work with academics who are unable to attend this date. This is a voluntary position and will require supervisor approval prior to undertaking the training.

If you are curious about this opportunity, or have a passion for student safety please do not hesitate to reach out to Taleah Neowhouse or Kara Zaffarese at respectandsafety@acu.edu.au or visit the Safety Support Network webpage for further information.
