ACU Co-Lab has proudly secured its inaugural NSW TechVoucher grant. This grant will support a cutting-edge study led by ACU researchers in partnership with Peak Medical Pty Ltd.
The research project, titled Quantifying the accuracy of a markerless motion capture system for assessing human movement: validation of the PeakMedical application for assisting in Exercise Physiology prescription, aims to revolutionize rehabilitation for joint disease patients. The project centres on validating the accuracy of Peak Medical's innovative "Better In Better Out" (BIBO) application. BIBO leverages computer vision technology and live clinical guidance to enhance exercise monitoring and technique correction, addressing challenges like stiffness and fatigue in real-time.
The research will be conducted at the state-of-the-art Blacktown Exercise, Sports, and Technology Hub (BEST). Leading the study is Associate Professor Grant Duthie, a globally recognised expert in sport and exercise technology validation, alongside Dr. Mark Moresi, an expert in biomechanics, and Dr. Yi-Chung Lin, a specialist in biomechanical engineering.
Administered by the ACU Co-Lab team, the NSW TechVoucher program is delivered in partnership with Investment NSW, fostering innovation and creating impactful solutions across sectors.
The NSW TechVoucher program is a co-funding initiative aimed at increasing collaboration between researchers and small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) in NSW by supporting the commercialisation process. Approved NSW TechVoucher projects are awarded 50 per cent of the total eligible project costs in matched funding, up to a maximum of $50,000.
