Artificial Intelligence Policy

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Council has been established to guide ACU’s adoption of AI in its teaching, research and engagement, and to influence good practice with university partners and stakeholders.

The disruptive and transformational nature of AI makes it of central concern to the university, and the AI Council was established to ensure we deliver on the obligations of our mission by protecting against the degradation of human wisdom in support of the dignity of the human person and the common good.

Led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education), the AI Council membership is made up of university leaders, academics, students, ethicists and Gen-AI subject matter experts. The council has created the Principles for Use of Artificial Intelligence in Teaching, Research & Research Training Policy which now appear on the ACU staff website. This document guides our obligations in terms of ethical and human-centred AI adoption.

Staff are reminded that an excellent resource to guide the use of AI is available via the Library AI Hub. These resources are designed to build digital fluency by guiding staff and students in the effective, ethical and responsible use of AI technologies.

Specific queries relating to the AI Council may be sent to AICouncil@acu.edu.au.
