A message from Vice President Fr Anthony Casamento csma.
I encourage you to attend the Welcome Ceremony on your campus and join us as we mark the beginning of the academic year and celebrate what makes us unique.
The opening of the academic year is a time of new beginnings on any university campus. The anticipation of joining new and returning students and staff back on campus and the endeavours of the academic year ahead.
For a Catholic university, the welcome back to campus is of particular significance. As a community united in a common mission and set of values, the welcome back to campus is an opportunity to introduce commencing students and staff to the spirit and culture of our university, and to the Catholic culture that permeates all the endeavours undertaken across the university.
This year, Campus Ministry, together with Student Life and the First Peoples team will introduce a new ‘Welcome Ceremony' as part of Welcome Back Week. The ceremony will celebrate who we are as a Catholic university, recognition of the First Peoples of our lands, and our approach to co-curricular activities and pastoral care. It will offer an opportunity for prayerful reflection that is welcoming of everyone.
Led by the campus dean and accompanied by specially selected liturgical music, highlights of the Welcome Ceremony will include a blessing of the campus student leaders and a time to pray together for our new students. The collaborative nature of this event is significant in emphasising that mission is who we are and part of everything we do at ACU.
See below for the details of the Welcome Ceremony on your campus:
Ballarat: Wednesday 5 March, 11:30am – 11:45am, Quadrangle
Blacktown: Tuesday 4 March, 11:45am – 12noon, The Track
