Listed below are a number of professional development programs which are offered by ACU or are available through external providers across the tertiary education sector.
Staff are encouraged to review learning opportunities and to liaise with their supervisor if they are interested in participating. You can register through the links provided. If you have any questions, please contact Leadership & Competencies Development Facilitator, Clint Rahe on extension 2298.
The University supports staff learning and eligible staff can apply for Study Support for a nationally-recognised award course of study from a public or private provider (subject to eligibility criteria). For more information on Study Support visit the HR website.

ACU offers a number professional development programs for staff, run by in-house trainers. There is no cost for attendance for these programs, and all interested continuing and fixed-term staff are encouraged to register.
Video Conference: 28 Apr
Staff are often faced with a number of work pressures and competing deadlines. It is often difficult to start and finish the required tasks without feeling the immense pressure.

This workshop is mandatory for all new staff and staff who have not yet attended this workshop.

This two day workshop is aimed at all staff wanting to develop their knowledge about mental health issues and how to support others in their workplace, community and personal networks.
Evidencing Teaching and Research in Applications for Academic Promotions
Video Conference: 3 May
Two one hour seminars, presented by video conference, which complement the Preparing for Academic Promotions Workshops are being conducted in May. These seminars have a specific focus on strategies for effective presentation of evidence of both Teaching and Research in applications for academic promotion.

Managing a virtual team is harder because of the challenges posed by communication styles, absence of nonverbal cues, time difference and cultural differences.

This training workshop will increase staff confidence in using ACU's Finance Reporting Centre. We will show you how to review, interpret and make the most of your financial reports. The workshop is aimed at all staff members who have been assigned access to Reporting Centre.

Leadership and Accountability of the Supervisor – Module 1

ACU has partnered with the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) to develop a new Leadership & Accountability of the Supervisor Program tailored to ACU’s operational context. Supervisors in Ballarat should register for Melbourne sessions. Supervisors in Strathfield should register for North Sydney sessions.
Having Difficult Conversations

Graduate Certificate in Catholic Studies
Available: Melbourne (multi-mode) and online in Semester 2, 2016
The Graduate Certificate in Catholic Studies (GCCS) was developed for graduate teachers who need accreditation to teach religious education in Catholic schools. For ACU staff, this course is also suitable for those who want to learn more about the Catholic tradition that underpins our organisation.
On completing the course, you will:
· The Graduate Certificate in Catholic Studies can be used to articulate into the Master of Professional Studies in Theology.
Master of Professional Studies in Theology
Available: Nationally across all ACU campuses (multi-mode) and online in Semester 2, 2016
The new Master of Professional Studies in Theology (MPST) is ideal for professionals working in Catholic organisations who are looking to develop and enhance their leadership capacity.
For ACU staff, the MPST will allow you to build upon existing qualifications and professional experience to understand and promote the mission, identity and ethos of the Catholic Church.
The course has been designed to develop a deeper level of engagement with the discipline of theology. It provides a rich variety of international study tour opportunities, an ability to specialise in particular discipline areas, as well as a capstone research component.
Master of Business Administration (Executive)

ELAMP: Module 1 Managing And Developing Self May 2016 Commencement
Online: 30 May 2016 to 29 July 2016
eLAMP is the joint program offered on line by ATEM and the L H Martin Institute. The four-module program articulates into degree level courses run by the L H Martin Institute. Module 1 is divided into four sections: developing a critical reflective professional practice; intra-personal intelligence; leading the self; and developing your personal career plan. We estimate that it will take you about 30 hours to complete over a 9 week period. You will find a selection of multimedia and readings as well as opportunities to discuss your study with your peers in the moderated discussion space, as well as to reflect on your learning by using the provided reflective e-journal.
Please note that you must register in each module you wish to do. There is no automatic registration into the other modules. The eLAMP program is offered free to ATEM Members.
*ATEM also has a number Priority Place Programs for a selection of on-demand events, to improve the flexibility and accessibility of courses. These events will run once a minimum number of attendees have registered. Please browse the ATEM program listings for more information.
ACU holds a corporate membership with ATEM which allows staff to attend programs at a reduced rate. When registering, indicate that you work for ACU and you will be entitled to the Affiliate rate.
