A message from the Chief Operating Officer Dr Stephen Weller:
We’re working to improve and integrate the digital tools available for staff, including the tools for video and teleconferencing. You’ll soon be able to connect and collaborate more effectively from any network-connected device, at any time and from anywhere.
IT is leading the Unified Communication and Collaboration (UCC) project which will integrate ACU’s video and teleconferencing, instant messaging, colleague availability tracking, and web collaboration tools with Microsoft Office 365. The UCC project is part of IT’s Digital Workspace Program to provide staff with a seamless experience across all devices.
Until now, we’ve had a range of collaboration tools with multiple vendors. This infrastructure is aging and reaching full capacity, and there is no interconnectivity between these systems.
The new integrated toolset will be streamlined, well-supported and based on industry-leading technologies from Microsoft, Polycom and Cisco. Integration will simplify the tools and help you to save time and improve your meeting experiences.
Skype for Business will be integrated with Polycom to provide a seamless experience for audio and video conferencing, chat and collaboration. You’ll soon be able to join a video or teleconference with one click on a link in your Outlook calendar.
The new toolset will be progressively rolled out across ACU from January 2018, and will be fully operational by March 2018. Information sessions will be held to assist you with using the new enhanced audio and video conferencing system and the collaboration features of Microsoft Office 365.
