Please visit the Service Central knowledgebase for the dates associated with the University’s annual Christmas close-down in each state.
During the Christmas close-down period, all buildings on all campuses will be locked and secured. Security will patrol the campus precincts during business hours. For access to any part of campus, please submit application in writing to the Director Properties & Facilities by 21 December.
If emergency access is required during the close-down period, please contact the National Security Centre on x8888 or (02) 9465 9052 to arrange for the deactivation of the security alarm system. Please do not enter a building whilst the security alarms are active, as this will trigger the alarm response.
Due to the University close-down period, deadlines for the submission of payroll documentation will need to be adjusted (eg timesheets and other salary claim forms) and termination documentation (eg resignations, fixed-term contract end). To enable timely processing of payments over the Christmas period, it is important that all staff and supervisors are aware of the following payroll deadlines/payment dates:
Payment | Pay period ending | Any documentation submitted, approved & with payroll by | Salary payment date |
---|---|---|---|
Annual Leave Loading | Calendar year 2018 | N/A | Wednesday 19 Dec 2018 |

Terminations and contract end | up to Friday 28 December 2018 | - | Wednesday 2 Jan 2019 |
Due to the University close-down period, it will not be possible to process payments for documentation received after the published deadlines, nor process any requests for manual payments.
As the University moves into the December/January period the external candidate market tends to ‘slow down’ and attracting and engaging suitable candidates for ACU’s employment opportunities can be challenging.
The HR Business Partnering team can assist hiring managers in providing advice on the optimum time to recruit to secure the best candidate for your role. For the team to both deliver a timely offer to a candidate and receive confirmation of acceptance of offer prior to Christmas, all recruitment outcome approvals should be with HR by Monday 10 December 2018.
Please visit Service Central or contact (07) 3623 7272 should you have any queries or require further information.
