A new underground carpark facility for students has been created at ACU’s Strathfield Campus, along with a new and improved sports field.
The existing sports field was excavated to create the new facility that can better cater for students’ transport and recreational needs. It took just over 12 months to build the new carpark, which will house 275 car spaces underground, along with new unisex change rooms equipped with shower, first-aid and massage facilities.
A new synthetic grass multi-sports field has been installed on top, offering an attractive way to conceal the carpark. After two days of testing, the field was certified by FIFA as meeting internationally-recognised standards for football.
The new sports field will see its first game played on Sunday 23 June when ACU FC versus a local competitor. In addition, we will continue the neighbourhood tradition, sharing the pitch with the nearby St Patrick’s College. The field can be booked between 7.30am and 3pm Monday to Friday by emailing ACU.Timetabling@acu.edu.au
It is estimated that the new carpark will ease congestion by reducing the need for 300-500 cars to find parking in the neighbouring streets of suburban Strathfield throughout the day.
