ACU encourages you to participate in our annual flu vaccination program to help maintain your health and wellbeing, especially with the onset of colder weather and impending flu season. All staff (including casuals and sessional staff) are eligible to participate in the program free of charge.
This year, you can either order a vaccination voucher which can be redeemed at local pharmacies/chemists, or you can book a vaccination appointment. ACU is also offering to reimburse staff who purchase an influenza vaccine through their preferred provider e.g. your GP. The reimbursement is capped at $22 per staff member.
The Southern Hemisphere seasonal influenza vaccine provides protection against the seasonal strains as recommended by the World Health Organisation. Health authorities are advising that the vaccine may assist reducing the risk of contracting the flu at the same time as COVID-19, which could ‘overwhelm’ the body. Please read ACU’s FAQs for more information about flu vaccination in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Vitality Work’s Q&A brochure, also contains valuable information about the vaccination and watch the Flu Explainer to learn about the benefits of being vaccinated.
If you are unsure whether you should be vaccinated (e.g. due to a medical condition, and/or you are allergic to egg products) please seek advice from your doctor first.

You are encouraged to order a voucher or book now to guarantee an appointment.
