Changes to class selection and timetabling for 2021

We are now approaching the final stage of the CST (Class Selection and Timetabling) project: aligning class selection with re-enrolment and admissions. This should lead to significant improvements in the student experience for both returning and commencing students.

Why are we making these changes?

We know that students are frustrated by the long gap between enrolling in their units and finalising their timetable, and want access to their timetable earlier so that they can plan ahead. Commencing students are overwhelmed and confused by university timetabling processes.

What will be changing
  • For 2021, we are bringing the class selection period forward to align with the re-enrolment period (13 October to 22 November). We are also bringing all teaching periods into Allocate+.
  • Returning students will be able to submit their class preferences for Semester 1, Summer, Winter and Professional Terms 1-5 as soon as they have enrolled in their units. They will receive their timetables between 30 November and 2 December.
  • Commencing students will be presented with an automatically generated timetable for Semester 1 upon enrolment. If they wish, they will be able to adjust their timetable from 2 December.
What we need from schools

In order to ensure the success of these measures to improve the student experience, we are asking schools across ACU to:

  • use the available reports to monitor preferences, and make sure that there are enough seats in classes for the anticipated enrolment load
  • minimise changes to the timetable during the re-enrolment and class selection period.
What we'll be doing to support you

Over the coming weeks, we will be conducting a series of school-based meetings to provide you with more information about the changes to timetable, and to provide you with an opportunity to ask questions.

Allocate+ training session will be held in the week commencing 21 September.  Please register by clicking to download the calendar invite for your preferred session. This will download an .ics file which you then need to open and accept to place into your calendar.
