ACU is taking a university-wide approach to sustainability, and you’re invited to join our first annual Sustainability Week during 4-10 October. Sustainability Week is an opportunity for all staff to come together and explore how we can contribute to a better world.
ACU’s broadened approach to sustainability will reflect a holistic commitment to caring for our common home. It also reflects our support for the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals. These 17 goals represent a comprehensive approach to sustainability which includes caring for the environment, addressing poverty and reducing inequalities, fostering peace and justice, and creating sustainable communities.
Pope Francis has provided a wonderful vision of these goals in his encyclical on caring for our common home, Laudato si’, which inspires us as a Catholic university.
Watch the video message below from ACU’s Vice-President Father Anthony Casamento below to find out more:
This Sunday marks the start of Sustainability Week, coinciding with the Feast of St Francis, Patron Saint of Ecologists. Join the Sustainability@ACU group in Workplace for updates and ideas on how you can contribute to a better world and support the Sustainable Development Goals.
There are a range of virtual Zoom events that ACU staff and students can participate in next week – email jessica.cassidy@acu.edu.au register and join in. The events will also be live-streamed on Workplace to enable ongoing participation and viewing.
