Citizenship, Refugee and Migration Law Moot

ACU's Thomas More Law School recently held its first Citizenship, Migration and Refugee Law Moot.

The brainchild of Noah Korkolis, Vice-President of the St Patrick’s Law Students Society at the Melbourne Campus, the event was held online because of the current lockdown.

A wicked problem was developed by Philip Duncan, the Convenor of the Graduate Diploma of Migration Law and Practice. Monash University and Deakin University battled it out for bragging rights, with Monash the winner.

Judges included Professor Spencer Zifcak, immigration lawyer Nigel Dobbie, barrister Greg Hughan, solicitor and ACU alumni Andrea Anastasi, and Senior Member of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal the Hon Perry Wood.

The moot allows the Thomas More Law School to join the many other Australian law schools that host a mooting competition and provides another opportunity for our law students to cut their teeth in competition with the best, and even the best of the best.
