ACU is committed to creating a welcoming and culturally safe university. Our commitment to our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander colleagues and students is detailed in both our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples Employment Strategy and our Reconciliation Action Plan.
Our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Awareness Workshops support staff to build stronger, respectful relationships with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander colleagues and students and are part of the ACU Induction Program.
For all non-commencing staff, participation in the Cultural Awareness Workshops is strongly encouraged. These workshops provide a foundation for new staff to develop a cultural understanding and respect for perspectives, kinship and history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
How you can support a culturally safe workplace
Read though our Reconciliation Action Plan and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples Employment Strategy to understand more about what you can do to help create a culturally safe workplace for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander colleagues and students.
For supervisors of new and existing staff members, please encourage and allocate time for staff members to attend the Cultural Awareness Workshops.
