Vice-Chancellor Professor Zlatko Skrbis has approved a revision of the Data and Information Governance Policy and a new accompanying procedure and classification framework. Together, these documents provide the foundation for aligning ACU’s data systems, reports and practices to contemporary best practice.
The policy, procedure and classification framework support improved data governance at the university. This will in turn provide greater clarity to the data governance roles and responsibilities of all staff members, and support ACU to:
All staff are encouraged to review the approved policy, procedure, and classification framework so that, together, we can achieve these outcomes and their resulting benefits.
The related policies webpage is being updated and you will be able to access these documents there soon. In the meantime, you can access these documents via the ACU DataHub and the Data Strategy SharePoint page.
Training workshops to inform you on these improvements in data and information governance will be delivered over the coming months.
The policy, procedure and classification framework form a key part of the ACU Data Strategy. ACU’s Office of Planning and Strategic Management (OPSM) developed these documents, guided by consultation and workshops across the university and with the support of the Data Strategy Working Group. The working group contributes expertise and knowledge to ensure that Data Strategy development and implementation will enable other university strategies, projects and programs.
The Data Strategy is progressing initiatives that will improve ACU’s data governance, management, quality, culture and capability in meaningful and practical ways. Research data is excluded from the scope of the Data Strategy and the policy, procedure and classification framework.
If you would like to know more about data and information governance at ACU, you can contact OPSM Project Manager Andrew Cole or Director of Planning and Strategic Management Omer Yezdani.
