Veterans Transition Program

Student Veterans Services (SVS) successfully ran the second iteration of the Veterans Transition Program (VTP) in Professional Term 2.

The program offers a unique opportunity for student veterans commencing their tertiary studies at ACU, to develop understanding of what to expect at university prior to commencement of semester one. The program aims to address key barriers faced by veterans as they transition into higher education.

A total of 42 students participated in the program, with this offering utilising the core curriculum unit PHCC102: Being Human. Students were able to participate in activities organised by SVS to assist with academic writing, referencing and how to plan, develop and construct a university paper.

The program was facilitated at the Brisbane and Melbourne campuses and some students were also able to attended via Zoom.

VTP participants now have a better understanding of what is expected of them during their study, while also connecting them with the support of their peers. SVS is currently going through the evaluation process and will be conducting a review following student feedback.
