Contributing to safety and wellbeing

ACU continues to drive improvements to the safety and wellbeing of our working and learning spaces across our campuses. The WHS Action Plan provides new ways for everyone to contribute to reducing injuries, strengthening wellbeing, and applying the Work Health and Safety Management System (WHSMS or framework).

There are other simple ways we can all help to drive improvements to safety and wellbeing, such as:

  • logging riskware reports within 24 hours of incidents, injuries and hazards
  • helping other staff or students to apply safe systems of work
  • know where to access relevant WHSMS reference guides, incident reporting tools and procedures
  • watch the Safety Hub videos about managing stress, manual handling and ergonomics.

Senior managers and nominated supervisors are encouraged to speak with their teams and students about the WHSMS and how all members of the ACU community contribute to its success.

ACU Members of the Executive advocate for safety and wellbeing and supporting supervisors to engage their teams. They also ensure that significant WHS risk is identified and managed and decisions are guided by an assessment of safety considerations, and improvements to safe systems of work are informed by your feedback.
