ACU Student Accommodation is offering a number of scholarships and opportunities for 2022, to remove any barriers that may impede students accepting their offer to study at ACU.
Aiming to provide students with a positive and enriching living and learning experience, the team knows that living in university student accommodation contributes greatly to the foundations for academic success. To assist students at the commencement of their undergraduate degrees, we are pleased to advise that an array of accommodation scholarship opportunities are now open.
The NSW Relocation Scholarship provides a partial rental fee scholarship valued at $5,000 for commencing or continuing undergraduate students who are suffering hardship and are required to relocate from a regional or rural area in NSW to study at one of ACU’s Sydney campuses. The NSW Relocation Scholarship will be paid against rental fees associated with any 12-month agreement at the ACU Miguel Cordero Residence.
The Miguel Cordero Residence Scholarship is designed to alleviate financial stress associated with accommodation expenses and better support students to achieve academic success and contribute to the ACU mission through Campus Ministry. The scholarship will be awarded to those students who best demonstrate their personal alignment to ACU's mission and values. This scholarship targets students from Catholic and other faith-based secondary schools in regional NSW.
The Miguel Cordero Residence Scholarship is valued at $11,050, reducing a student’s rental fees by 50 per cent (based on a 12-month agreement) at the Miguel Cordero Residence in Camperdown, NSW.
The ACU Accommodation Award for High Achievers is based on academic merit. To receive support with accommodation costs at the Miguel Cordero Residence, successful applicants must fulfil the eligibility criteria of undergraduate degree enrolment at a NSW campus with a minimum ATAR of 85.
The ACU Accommodation Award for High Achievers is valued at $11,050, reducing a student’s rental fees by 50 per cent (based on a 12-month agreement) at the Miguel Cordero Residence in Camperdown, NSW.
The ACU Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Accommodation Scholarship covers the full cost of accommodation for the scholarship holder, providing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students with the opportunity to make the most of their university experience.
Applications for this scholarship will be assessed by the First Peoples and Equity Pathways Directorate.
For current or commencing students who are accepted into the Elite Athlete and Performer Program (EAPP), ACU Accommodation will match any EAPP award amount which can be credited against any two-semester or 12-month rental agreement at the Miguel Cordero Residence. The EAPP Accommodation Scholarships are designed to support sportspeople and performers to focus on their studies, without worrying about the financial burdens of living away from home.
The Ramsay Scholarship supports commencing students in the Bachelor of Arts (Western Civilisation) or the Bachelor of Arts Western Civilisation/Bachelor of Laws at the North Sydney campus. Ramsay Scholars will be eligible to apply for a further-discounted National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS) studio or premium studio at Miguel Cordero Residence (MCR).
The National Rental Affordability Scheme is a scheme of the Federal Government which aims to increase the supply of affordable rental dwellings at a 20 per cent average market rental discount minimum.
NRAS rooms with MCR are charged at $368 per week for studio rooms and $424 per week for premium studio rooms (all NRAS rooms require a 12-month minimum rental agreement). For Ramsay Scholars, these rooms will be further reduced to $275 per week for studio rooms, and $315 per week for premium studio rooms. All rooms come fully furnished and rental fees are inclusive of all utilities.
ACU Student Accommodation provides valuable support to international students commencing study at ACU in 2022 and includes the ACU International Study and Accommodation Scheme.
Commencing international students are eligible to receive 25 per cent remission of fees annually in a National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS) studio for the length of their degree. Further details for this scheme will be available shortly.
If you would like to distribute these opportunities to any current students or within your secondary school networks, or for more information, please contact National Manager (Student Accommodation) Simone Gallo.
