ACU will celebrate Wear it Purple Day during the week of 21-25 August. Everyone is welcome to attend celebrations which include an alumni guest speaker event and other local morning teas and engaging activities across our campuses.
Everyone is invited to wear purple on Wear it Purple Day Friday 25 August. This is an opportunity to show support and solidarity for LGBTIQ+ young people by raising awareness about the challenges they face and celebrate their resilience.
You're also invited to join activities on campus and online throughout the week.
Jo Hirst is a former primary school teacher who wrote Australia’s first picture book for transgender children, The Gender Fairy. Jo will share her reflections on her experience as a former ACU student, and learnings through working with trans and gender diverse children and their families.
If attending in person, stay for a morning tea of purple cupcakes afterwards and grab some Wear it Purple Day merchandise.
If you can, bring along your spare coins for donations, which will be returned to the not-for-profit Wear It Purple to help them support Australian LGBTIQ+ young people.
