ACU will celebrate Wear it Purple Day during the week of 21-25 August. Everyone is welcome to attend celebrations which include an alumni guest speaker event and other local morning teas and engaging activities across our campuses.
Everyone is invited to wear purple on Wear it Purple Day Friday 25 August. This is an opportunity to show support and solidarity for LGBTIQ+ young people by raising awareness about the challenges they face and celebrate their resilience.
You're also invited to join activities on campus and online throughout the week.
Jo Hirst is a former primary school teacher who wrote Australia’s first picture book for transgender children, The Gender Fairy. Jo will share her reflections on her experience as a former ACU student, and learnings through working with trans and gender diverse children and their families.
If attending in person, stay for a morning tea of purple cupcakes afterwards and grab some Wear it Purple Day merchandise.
If you can, bring along your spare coins for donations, which will be returned to the not-for-profit Wear It Purple to help them support Australian LGBTIQ+ young people.

Ballarat LGBTIQ+ Student Society invites you to come and add your own purple heart to their Wear it Purple Day banner to show your support for LGBTIQ+ young people.
When: Wednesday 23 August, 11am-2pm

Ballarat LGBTIQ+ Student Society and Student Life invites you to watch a live stream of a cooking show, where they will be making purple pancakes, and you can learn more about the importance of Wear it Purple day.
When: Friday 25 August, 12.15pm
Where: Access the livestream on Student Life’s Instagram page at 12.15pm. The event will also be available to watch after the live stream.
Student Life invites you to come and enjoy craft and cupcakes to celebrate.

Students and staff are invited to wear purple and celebrate with purple cupcakes and other giveaways (badges, stickers, ribbons, wrist bands, lollypops etc.)

Signadou LGBTQIA+ Society will host a celebration with purple fairy floss, BYO tie-dying and a poetry contest with a $50 Westfield gift card prize to be won, (judged by students with the prize distributed the following Wednesday). You can also add your own purple heart on a display and write about what inclusion means to you.

Student Life and Strathfield LGBTQIA+ Society invite you to celebrate with rainbow snacks, Wear It Purple merchandise, and mindfulness colouring-in.
