Reset your own ACU password

From this Thursday 27 July, all staff will have access to self-service password reset and be able to reset their own passwords. Here’s what you need to know.

What is Self-Service Password Reset?
Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) allows staff to reset their own ACU passwords. SSPR uses two multi-factor authentication methods to verify your identity before allowing you to reset your own password, without requiring assistance from Service Central.
What do I need to do?

SSPR requires two authentication methods, so from 27 July, the next time you log into an MFA-protected system, you’ll be prompted to either:

  • Set up a second authentication method (if you currently only have one registered), OR
  • Confirm your authentication methods (if you currently have two methods registered).

You can choose from the following authentication methods:

  • Microsoft Authenticator app (recommended as primary method)
  • SMS (recommended as secondary method)
  • Personal email (for SSPR only; cannot be used to pass MFA challenges).

Depending on your current method, follow the correct instructions below:

You can skip SSPR registration for now but note that the existing password reset tool will be retired by the end of the year and SSPR registration will become compulsory, so registering now is recommended.

How do I reset my password?
Once registered, you will be able to reset your password by clicking ‘forgot my password’ when logging into any system that uses MFA, such as Outlook. You will then use your two MFA methods to verify your identity. Once verified you’ll be able to reset your password. Here's some instructions for how to use SSPR
Where can I get help?
If you have any questions or queries about SSPR registration or how to use the tool, please contact Service Central.
