ACU is proud to announce the official launch of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program, and to introduce a network of Sunflower Champions who will support individuals with hidden disabilities.
This significant milestone is made possible thanks to the dedication of more than 50 staff members who have volunteered as Sunflower Champions, embodying our commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive campus environment.
Sunflower Champions
Our Sunflower Champions have undergone specialised training to better understand and meet the needs of individuals with hidden disabilities. These committed staff members are easily recognisable by their distinctive white and green Sunflower Champion lanyards, symbolising their readiness to offer assistance, understanding, and support.
Sunflower Champions play a crucial role at ACU by:
Expanding awareness and support
In the coming weeks, efforts to raise awareness among our student body about the Sunflower Program will intensify and this includes an information page on the Student Portal.
Communications will be disseminated through various channels, including student news feeds and campus display screens, ensuring that everyone at ACU is informed and engaged with the program.
The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program is a key component of our mission to foster an environment where every individual feels valued, supported, and understood. The enthusiasm and commitment of our Sunflower Champions is invaluable to achieve this goal and we are profoundly grateful for their contributions.
As we move forward with the Sunflower Program, let's all embrace the opportunity to make a positive impact on our community so that ACU remains a place where diversity is celebrated, and every member feels welcomed.
Thank you for your continued support and commitment to making ACU an inclusive environment for all.
