See a collection of ACU’s research that supports good health as we mark World Health Day this week on 7 April.
World Health Day is a global health awareness event by the World Health Organisation (WHO) which is held each year on 7 April. The event commemorates the WHO’s founding, and serves to highlight an issue of major importance to global health.
The theme for 2024 is ‘My health, my right’. The WHO has said that “this year’s theme was chosen to champion the right of everyone, everywhere to have access to quality health services, education, and information, as well as safe drinking water, clean air, good nutrition, quality housing, decent working and environmental conditions, and freedom from discrimination.”
ACU continues to make valuable contributions to research from our health disciplines. Health outcomes, community wellbeing, and policy framework improvements are all reflected in the research publications from the Faculty of Health Sciences and the dedicated research institutes and centres:
The right to access public health services and information supporting personal health choices are part of ACU research’s alignment with our mission for human dignity and the common good. Research findings from investigating health outcomes at the intersections of Australia’s vulnerable communities and unique environmental challenges can be seen in the following open access research articles:
