Transition to Canvas: essential resources

As we approach Semester 1, the Centre for Education and Innovation is committed to ensuring that all staff have the necessary resources and support for a seamless transition to Canvas.

Explore the key Canvas supports available to staff:

Canvas training resources

  • All staff have access to an extensive range of both introductory and advanced Canvas tutorial videos, as well as training modules, on the Canvas Training webpage.

Requesting Canvas support

  • For assistance with configuring your Canvas course, enrolling new staff members in a course, or for any other technical queries, please submit a request via Service Central.
  • Staff can access free, 24/7 technical support from the bottom left ‘Help’ tab within Canvas. This offers both a live-chat and phone option.

Sessional workload allocations

  • Sessional staff members can access paid workload for undertaking Canvas training.
NB: Sessional staff please coordinate with your line manager to arrange remuneration.
  • Professional and academic staff are encouraged to discuss any training needs with their line manager.

Canvas experience guide

Teaching staff are strongly encouraged to read the Canvas Experience Guide. This is an essential document that:

  • provides insights into the justification behind the design of Canvas at ACU
  • offers an evidence-based guide to setting up a high-quality course in Canvas
  • details how to access Canvas support.

Upcoming support

  • Canvas Bootcamp is scheduled to take place from 29 January to 19 February. For more information about these sessions, please refer to the 24 January email communication from your Head of School.
  • Training sessions for Canvas, led by eLearning Friends (eLFs) are now underway. These subject matter experts are available to provide internal training and support at the faculty or school level.
