Next week’s National Volunteer Week 20-26 May, is an opportunity to highlight the important role that volunteers play in our community. Join us as we mark this year's theme 'Something for everyone'.
This national week of recognition also serves to encourage those who aren’t connected to an organisation or yet to volunteer, to find meaningful ways to participate.
At ACU, we're lucky to have the Community Engagement Time Release (CETR) available, which is in place to provide all staff the opportunity to make a contribution to their community in a valuable and respectful way.
The CETR has been developed to support staff to participate in community engagement activities and outlines the time release arrangements to occur during working hours. Approved CETR activities releases you for up to five days per calendar year, equivalent to 38 hours, to participate in work that contributes to common good, address social justice issues in the community, and helps those who are experiencing disadvantage or marginalisation.
Over National Volunteer Week, we’d like to encourage you to find something in the community engagement space and consider where in your community you could give back.
To help you with this, we look forward to sharing some of the wonderful things our colleagues are currently undertaking as approved through CETR in the ACU Engagement workplace group. We'll be sharing stories featuring everything from cleft palate surgeries in Bangladesh, to supporting training for seeing-eye dogs.
We are so proud of the difference our staff are making out in community!
Join the ACU Engagement Workplace group and keep an eye our next week for the stories.
