Serving those who have served

All staff are encouraged to complete the ACU Working with Veterans training program.

ACU is committed to serving those who have served. Assisting veterans and their families to lead successful and rewarding lives after military service is a mission-aligned priority for ACU. ACU aims to provide holistic support that considers the whole person.

A new training program has been developed to help staff understand how they can contribute to supporting veterans and their families.
The training program includes two modules which take around 15 minutes each to complete.

Module 1 – Understanding Veterans

This course is designed to enhance your knowledge of the Australian Defence Force and build awareness of the experiences of veterans you work with, whether as students or colleagues.

This module covers:

  • the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and how it operates
  • ADF identity and culture
  • veteran transition experiences

Module 2 – Working with Student Veterans

This module explores who student veterans are and how to create a veteran-friendly campus using the support services and resources available.

Topics covered include:

  • student veterans
  • Student Veteran Services at ACU
  • Supporting student veterans and families

You can complete the training via the Staff Learning Hub.

The training module has been funded under the Commonwealth Government’s Veteran Wellbeing Grants One-Off Program.
