Childcare support for academic staff

Academic staff who have recently returned from parental leave are reminded that they may be eligible for reimbursement of childcare expenses if they are presenting a refereed paper at an international conference held within Australia or overseas.

Clause 4.6.3 of the ACU Staff Enterprise Agreement 2022-2025 provides for reimbursement of childcare expenses for full-time or part-time academic staff who:

  • are within three years of returning to ACU from approved parental leave, and
  • are presenting a refereed paper at an international conference held either within Australia or overseas.

Staff are eligible to receive reimbursement of childcare expenses incurred as a result of presenting at a conference, up to a maximum of $1250, once a version of the conference paper is accepted for publication in a peer reviewed output.
