ACU will move from Workplace to Microsoft Viva Engage in June. This follows Meta’s announcement in 2024 that Workplace would be discontinued from August 2025.
Last year, the Internal Communications team conducted a Staff Communications Survey to gain a better understanding of how staff interact with our internal communications channels at ACU, and where improvements could be made.
Many staff said they saw value in ACU replacing Workplace once it was phased out and that Workplace helped them learn more about what is happening across the university.
However, the survey results also indicated that some staff found it hard to find information on Workplace, that there was too much duplication of content and too many notifications.
We’ve used this feedback to inform our approach to Viva Engage. Please see our FAQs for more detail.
As part of the transition to Viva Engage, we will focus on a core structure of communities (known as ‘groups’ on Workplace). This will make it easier for you to understand where to access different types of news and where best to post to reach your target audience.
We won’t be recreating all our existing Workplace groups when we move to Viva Engage. A limited number of Workplace groups will be recreated on the new platform, based on current activity and in consultation with stakeholders. If you are the administrator of an active Workplace group and have not yet been contacted about the transition to Viva Engage, please email internal.communications@acu.edu.au
Watch the Viva Engage demo video below to understand more about the platform.
We are holding a Viva Engage information session on Wednesday 30 April from 11am – 11.45am. Come along to learn more about the transition from Workplace to Viva Engage and to ask any questions. Register here.
