Elections are now open to appoint two members of our academic staff to the university Senate for a term ending on 30 April 2028.
Senate is ACU’s peak governing body, and Senators have the opportunity to help determine the strategic direction of the university.
Nominations open today (Wednesday 19 February) and close on Wednesday 5 March at 4pm AEDT.
All eligible staff will be invited to nominate by direct email on Wednesday 19 February. If you are interested in self-nominating, keep an eye out for the invitation and click the personalised link in the email to nominate via our election partners BigPulse.
Senator responsibilities include managing the university budget, creating policy, ensuring regulatory compliance, overseeing university operations, and ensuring adequate risk management procedures are implemented and followed across the university.
As part of their duties, Senators normally attend six meetings and one planning day per year, attend sub-committee meetings where appropriate, and attend functions and graduation ceremonies. Too busy to commit to this? Don’t worry, the university recognises that Senators need time to adequately discharge their duties and makes allowances in determining academic workload. Senate-related travel, accommodation and other expenses (where necessary and appropriate) are also covered by the university.
If you would like more information about the Senate, what it does and who its members are, visit the Senate website and read the ACU Constitution. You can also read the formal Notice of Election and Call for Nominations on the Elections website for more information or contact governance.elections@acu.edu.au.
