World Interfaith Harmony Week

A message from Vice President Fr Anthony Casamento csma

During the first week of February of every year we celebrate World Interfaith Harmony Week. The goal of this United Nations initiative is to promote harmony between all people regardless of their faith. World Interfaith Harmony Week has been observed since 2010 after first being proposed at the United Nations by HM King Abdullah II of Jordan to promote harmony between citizens of the world regardless of their faith. The motivation behind this week is the belief that we find strength and unity in diversity, all faiths should be able to live alongside each other and an understanding that it is the connection between people and their faith that delivers good in the world.

As a Catholic university grounded in the Catholic Intellectual Tradition, ACU acts on this belief every day, promoting opportunities for students, staff and community members seeking support no matter their faith or personal belief. Our Catholic heritage reminds us daily to invite in and care for those who may not be like us, to open our arms in radical hospitality. In World Interfaith Harmony Week, we reiterate the message that all are welcome here, no matter your faith, as a community we are here to support you. Galatians 3:28 - There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for we are all one in Christ Jesus.
