Outstanding Alumni Awards

ACU is launching the inaugural Outstanding Alumni Awards to recognise graduates for exceptional professional, academic, community or research achievements.

Associate director, Student Recruitment, Maureen Frame said the alumni awards will help ACU forge closer ties with alumni “who are the embodiment of our Mission and potentially our strongest advocates or ambassadors”.

“We are looking forward to reconnecting our staff with exceptional past students, who have gone on to make exceptional contributions to their professions and the communities they live within,” Maureen said.

Nominations are now being called for Outstanding Alumni in four categories:  Community Engagement, Community Leadership, International Contribution and Young Alumnus of the Year. An Overall ACU Alumnus of the Year will also be selected from the four finalists.

ACU’s alumni community now numbers more than 76,000 and this annual program is a celebration of the achievements of outstanding ACU alumni in order to build a strong alumni community who continue to act as advocates in their professional endeavours.

The 2015 Awards ceremony is scheduled for 13 October in North Sydney and will be hosted by the Vice-Chancellor, and held in the company of staff, students, stakeholders and alumni. Future awards ceremonies will be celebrated at the ACU campuses of Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane on a rotational basis.

The primary source of nominations will come from ACU Faculty staff who continue to stay in touch with outstanding students and are aware of student achievements in professional and community settings.

The Outstanding Alumni Awards program is designed to engage the winners with their respective professions and communities, and this is particularly appealing for the ACU International Contribution award where it may prove to be a catalyst for forming ACU Alumni chapters and networking events.
