Transforming scholarly publishing

From January, ACU-affiliated authors will be able to take advantage of Read and Publish Agreements to enable open access publishing of ACU research and scholarly articles.

Read and Publish Agreements, or Transformative Agreements, are aimed at making more of our research open access. As part of these agreements, ACU pays for the subscription to access or read journal articles, while at the same time ensuring ACU researchers can publish within selected journals as open access.

These Read and Publish Agreements will allow ACU-affiliated researchers who are the corresponding authors to publish articles with the article processing charge paid for as part of the subscription.

When submitting your manuscript you will need to:

  • use your ACU email address
  • assert your affiliation with ACU, or select ACU as the participating institution
  • include your ORCiD as part of the submission process

Agreements have been reached with the following publishers:

  • Brill
  • Cambridge University Press
  • Oxford University Press
  • Springer Nature
  • Wiley

Please note that a number of these agreements are capped agreements, which permit a limited number of articles to be published per year.

Once the allowance is used, authors of additional articles may choose to publish as closed access or pay for an article processing charge for the article to be published open access.

If authors wish to publish as closed access, they can deposit their author’s accepted manuscript with Research Bank, the institutional repository.
