Make 2023 your year to get published

ACU Library has again joined the CAUL Open Education Resources Collective, and we are looking for ACU authors who are working on books that could be textbooks.

Open Education Resources (OER) textbooks align to ACU mission by providing improved access and equity for students struggling with the cost of attending university.

The collective program in 2023 will provide you, the authors, with a place to publish your work and training about the publishing process, and you will also be joining a community of like-minded authors.

There are a range of grants available depending on the book type:

  • Large Cohort grant: for textbooks for courses where the enrolment is over 300 students or could be used in a number of classes where students will exceed 300.
  • Small Cohort grant: for textbooks for courses where student numbers are less than 299. Could also include emerging disciplines, postgraduate courses, or specialty subjects that not many universities teach.
  • Kickstarter grant: new authors or institutions (ACU meets this qualification) that have not published an OER textbook before.

Grant submissions are accepted between 16 January–24 February, and Library staff are available to assist any staff member wishing to submit an expression of interest form.

If you choose not to apply for a grant but still wish to publish your textbook OER, please contact the library as we can still provide all the support under the OER Collective including a place to publish.
