A message from Acting Chief Operating Officer Russell Parker:
As part of our ongoing commitment to fostering a healthy, safe, and welcoming environment for everyone on campus, I would like to remind you about our Smoke-Free and Vape-Free Environment Policy.
Smoking, vaping, and the use of tobacco products is not permitted on ACU campuses. This includes indoor and outdoor spaces, university-owned vehicles, and parking lots.
ACU is committed to providing a safe and healthy working and learning environment that protects everyone from injury, workplace-related illness, and potential hazards to their wellbeing. ACU recognises the health risks associated with passive smoking, exposure to second-hand smoke and the vapour from personal vaporisers, as well as life-threatening diseases linked to the use of all forms of tobacco.
The Smoke-Free and Vape-Free Environment Policy aligns with our commitment to supporting the health and wellbeing of all students, staff and visitors across our university campuses.
Outside the boundaries of university properties, smoking, vaping and use of tobacco products is subject to state laws. Follow the links below for more information about the local laws in your state:
Resources and support are available through ACU’s Employee Assistance Program for staff members who wish to quit smoking or vaping.
We ask all staff to help maintain a healthy campus atmosphere by adhering to this policy. Your cooperation is essential to ensure all staff, students and campus visitors can enjoy a smoke and vapor-free environment.
If you have any questions or would like to clarify any details in the policy, please do not hesitate to contact the Safety and Wellbeing team at healthsafetywellbeing@acu.edu.au
