A message from Chief Operating Officer, Patrick Woods:
As we approach Easter—a season that invites renewal and reflection—it’s a timely reminder of the importance of caring for our wellbeing, both individually and collectively. Amid evolving priorities, it’s natural to feel stretched, but maintaining balance is key to sustaining our energy, focus, and shared sense of purpose.
We’re currently in one of the most joyful periods in the university calendar—graduation season. With ceremonies already held and more to come in Brisbane, Ballarat, and Melbourne, we’re reminded of the impact of our work and the determination of our students. Thank you to all staff involved in making these celebrations meaningful. Your efforts behind the scenes and on the day create truly memorable experiences for our graduates and their families.
Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting our Banyo campus and connecting with many of you in person. It was energising to experience the strong sense of purpose and collaboration on campus. Thank you to all who made the visit so engaging—I look forward to continuing these conversations as we strengthen our alignment with the university’s strategic direction.
Since arriving at the university a few months ago, I’ve focused on understanding where we are now—and where we need to grow. We have strong foundations to build on, and with that comes the opportunity to strengthen our capability and bring even greater clarity to our focus. Change is a natural part of life—not only in our work, but in the world around us. It’s how we grow, refine, and respond to what’s needed. The Easter season reminds us that renewal is part of the rhythm of growth. I’ve been encouraged by the way teams continue to respond—with purpose, adaptability, and care.
As the Easter break approaches, I encourage you to pause and recharge. Whether you find renewal through faith, time with loved ones, quiet moments of stillness—or simply enjoying traditions like hot cross buns, a good book, time outdoors, or cheering on your team—I hope the season brings peace, perspective, and the chance to reset.
Thank you for your continued commitment and care—it makes a real difference and is appreciated.
